My Iraq Fatwa, Former Baathist Extols Moderation over Democracy ………….

Fareed Zakaria (CNN-GPS) asked Iyad Allawi, the unofficial representative of Arab oligarchies and dictators in Iraq, about the impact of Iraqi elections on the move toward “democracy” in the Arab world. Allawi ignored the question about “democracy” but talked about encouraging the move toward “moderation” and away from radicalism in the region.
He was not talking to just everybody: he was talking to the Saudis and other oligarchs. He was saying that I will not bother you about “democracy”, but I will be a good “moderate”, just like the mummy of the Nile.
This is my fatwa for the week: he will definitely not become prime minister. I still promise that I will stop blogging for a whole day if he becomes prime minister and discredits my fatwa. I will probably need to go into rehab if he does, as will the overwhelming majority of Iraqis.
Cheers
