A Feathered Bearded Iraqi Tribal Shaikh Opines………

Abu Raisha, tribal leader and closely tied to several countries outside Iraq, accuses Syria and Iran of meddling in Iraqi affairs. They almost certainly are, but so are many others. Iraq has become like Lebanon: each side complains loudly that the others are in the pay of foreign governments, but they all are.
In an interview on the Saudi Alarabiya TV, Abu Raisha (his name means “the One with a Feather on His Head” in Arabic, but it can also mean “the One with a Beard” in Persian) said there was no reason to ban Baathists, because they boycotted the political process on their own. He also denied that having close relations with Arab kings and dictators means he is receiving support from them. Clearly his heart is with the Baath, even if his pocket is open to those who supported the invasion that overthrew the Baath…..
Sure. I suspect he is probably receiving more support from the oligarchies than the other side receive from Iran. If only because they have much more money and can spend it any way they wish. Besides, it takes much more money to sway some tribal shaikhs to act against their own natural instincts. If’n ya’ll know what I mean.
Cheers
