Bin Laden as John Muir: Lauds Kyoto and Chomsky, Ignores Ibn Taimiyya, Sartre, and Camus ………..
““Bin Laden says "all the industrial states" are to blame for climate change, "yet the majority of those states have signed the Kyoto Protocol and agreed to curb the emission of harmful gases". He continued: "However, George Bush junior, preceded by [the US] congress, dismissed the agreement to placate giant corporations. And they are themselves standing behind speculation, monopoly and soaring living costs. "They are also behind 'globalisation and its tragic implications'. And whenever the perpetrators are found guilty, the heads of state rush to rescue them using public money……… Bin Laden said: "Noam Chomsky [the US academic and political commentator] was correct when he compared the US policies to those of the Mafia. They are the true terrorists and therefore we should refrain from dealing in the US dollar and should try to get rid of this currency as early as possible………….”
Interesting shift here. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “evil one” has Ansel Adams prints hanging in his cave, right next to the dart board with the visages of W and Darth Cheney. It looks like he is seeing an opportunity for claiming the mantle of the Green Movement. He may have a deeply sinister motive here: an alliance of his Salafi fundamentalist movement with the outliers of the ‘Green’ movement in Europe. He probably can get some of the green young “Greens”, the impatient ones, to consider it. All he needs ais a few, a handful. That would give him a corps of un-profilable blue-eyed Europeans who can get on airplanes much easier than, say, a couple of surly Arabs or Pakistanis.
That should give the folks in charge of air transport security some pause, and a major headache.
Cheers
