Unequal Defiances, More Nuclear Plants, Expanding Settlements……………

Iran's Cabinet has authorized the construction of another 10 uranium enrichment plants, its state news agency announced Sunday, further defying international calls to halt its production of nuclear fuel. The Iranian Cabinet approved existing plans for five more facilities similar to its current plant at Natanz and ordered planning for five more to begin, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported. The dispatch quoted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying that the new plants will be used to produce fuel for civilian nuclear power stations…..…”

In a televised statement, Mr Netanyahu said the Israeli security cabinet had earlier authorised the "policy of restraint regarding settlements which will include the suspension of new permits and new construction in [the West Bank] for a period of 10 months". "This is a far-reaching and painful step," he said. "We hope that this decision will help launch meaningful negotiations to reach an historic peace agreement that will finally end the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians." Mr Netanyahu said the restrictions would apply only to the construction of new homes, and that any work currently under way would continue. "We will not halt existing construction and we will continue to build synagogues, schools, kindergartens and public buildings essential for normal life," he added. He also stressed that the policy did not apply to Jerusalem………….”

Somehow I see a similarity here: intransigence and defying the “international community”. But apparently all defiances are not equal, paraphrasing the pig……..
