The Pope and the Mullahs, Eggs Benedict and Turbans Flambe………

Pope Benedict XVI praised Iran’s ancient spiritual customs. He expressed to the new Iranian ambassador to the Vatican a desire to improve relations. The ambassador is the mullah in turban in the picture to the right up there, not the little kid in the bigger picture, that one is me. The Pontificus Maximus also urged Iran to open more to the international community and to grant more freedoms to Christians and the clergy in Iran. I assume he meant the Christian clergy in Iran because Muslim clergy in Iran certainly have a lot of freedom, too much if you ask me. He also said the positive Iranian response about the nuclear program is encouraging. I personally still don’t know exactly what that Iranian position is, and probably neither does Hilary Clinton, but the Pontiff seems to know……….

The Pope ignored a few other religions, but I guess he was looking out for number one. For example, I doubt that Shaikh al-Shaikh (look him up) worries about freedoms for Christians either.
