A Woody Allen Effect, Arab Election Shock and Awe, Running for office, Sitting on Office, Smothering …………….

“Tunisian president re-elected in landslide victory- wins fifth term: Zein al-Abidin bin Ali was re-elected with 89.62 percent of the vote in Sunday's elections for a fifth term in office after two decades in power, according to results released early Monday by the interior ministry.Vote tallies from 20 of Tunisia's 26 regions showed that in two regions bin Ali won nearly 99 percent of the vote…………..”
"Tunisia decides to keep Bin Ali......."
Arab oligarchy media are treating it like a real election. They shocked and awed. One more despot dodges a bullet, engineers his own re-election for a fifth term. The region is safe for democracy. That is the saddest news I have read this morning about the Arab region.
Shocking news: president of Tunisia, in power since 1987, has won a new term in office. With only about 90% now instead of 95%: people are fickle, democracy is tough. Most Arab oligarchs do not run for office. They do not stand for it either. They just are “in office”, something Woody Allen-esque about it. Since they are, they just sit on it, and remain so until they smother it with sheer aroma of their "brain power".
Which means that, since in effect there is no margin of vote against them, everybody loves them.
Cheers
