A Coptic President of Egypt? Democracy Schemocracy, River Nile, River Styx………

What constitution:

In Egypt, the controversy rages about a Copt’s nomination for president. While Muslim and Christian clerics welcomed the nomination of any Copt (Egyptian Christian) for president since this is his ‘right according to the Egyptian constitution, they also emphasized the inadmissibility of a Copt becoming president in an Islamic country......

"
Coptic Priest Mutta (Mathew) said that the nomination of a Copt would be a waste of time........Two Copts have so far declared they will run in 2011 against Mr. Mubarak or whoever he.........”

Interesting logic, only in the Middle East, something only the Egyptian bureaucracy can think of: he can run for president because he is a citizen, but he cannot serve because he is not a Muslim.
Now why didn’t the assorted rightwingers and crackers in the USA think of that angle last November? The lady from Wasilla could be measuring the drapes by now.

Besides, this all make-believe democracy, Potemkin democracy. What difference would it make; we all know who is going to win. They always win until they are sent across the river Styx to Hades…
