Salafi Astronomy, a Dead Mufti, Rediscovering Galileo, What about Poirot......

I enjoyed translating, sort of translating parts of this piece:

It was said about the fatwa of Shaikh Ibn Baz, Allah have mercy on him, about the roundness of Earth, and repeated many times which indicate evil intentions…...An Egyptian editor (Ahmad Bahauldin) in 1966 mocked the Shaikh bin Baz and his fatwa allowing the killing of anyone who believes that the Earth is round and that the Earth rotates around the Sun and not the opposite. The shaikh responded with an article in which he refuted that claim about his alleged fatwa......

Now this type of rumors are repeated, among others, with the evil intention of besmirching the memory of the late Shaikh Bin Baz, may he rest in peace. Oddly, the foes of the late shaikh carry strange and perverted ideas that exceed what they claimed about Shaikh Bin Baz and the roundness of Earth. Among their rotten beliefs is the one about the universe being controlled by four poles, that is, it is being carried at four corners, and they are anchored by four stakes. The center of command and control of the universe is in the graves of the four poles who are Sofi holy men.

This idea of four poles controlling the universe is still part of the corrupt Sofi beliefs. This Ahmad Bahauldin belonged to the Baha’i sect founded by an Ali M. al-Shirazi who claimed that god had assigned him the task of spreading his faith. He made up his faith from Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Brahmans, Zoroastrianism, Paganism, and philosophic sects. Shirazi considered himself a prophet, and some of the foes of Shaikh Bin Baz believe that the source of control of the universe lies in the shrines of holy men…

Let us pause and use our brains: the Sun spins around itself at 29 km/sec, and it rotates around the galaxy at 220 km/sec. If the Earth spins and at the same time it rotates around the Sun, it makes sense for people on Earth to feel that it is the Sun that rotates around the Earth………

He did not exactly mention the Geocentric model of Ptolemy or the Heliocentric model of Copernicus and Galileo, but he got there anyway. He rediscovered it. Without having to dabble in heathen sciences of both Roman pagans and Catholics.
I wonder what Ahmadinejad thinks of all this.
I still don’t know the motive behind this revival of Bin Baz (former Saudi mufti) or Bahauldin. That was during the sixties when a cold war was raging between the ‘progressive’ Arab forces led by Nasser and the ‘reactionary’ Arab forces led by, who else, Saudi Arabia. Now we can say that the Saudis won, to the extent that Egypt is almost as ‘reactionary’ by the slang of the sixties and getting there fast.
Cheers
