Qaddafi as King Lear, a Loquacious Rabbi, a Big Tent, Hugh Hefner…….

Watched a news item about Colonel Qaddafi’s tent in New York. How many localities do not want him around because of Lockerbie. Looks like Trump will be his host, although I expect he will fold as well.
Still, I am not sure what that fierce rabbi was doing on CNN, since apparently he had no relatives on Pan Am 103. He was extremely loquacious, Anderson Cooper couldn’t shut him up for a few seconds; nor did he try.

The dictator has spent four decades in power, much of it involved in intrigue and sponsoring terrorism around the world. Still, I am glad he is coming to the United Nations. I expect that he will deliver the most entertaining speech, the only entertaining speech, even more entertaining that Iran’s Ahmadinejad who has the charisma of a snail (garden variety). Unless Hugo Chavez is showing up, now that there will be no sulfur in the air.

If anything, Qaddafi is good at improvising and often saying exactly what is on his mind, unlike any Arab leader I know, or know of. Of course what may be on his mind is not always something that makes sense to most people,

Someone reminded me tonight that the Colonel has things in common with Hugh Hefner. She said they both like to preen surrounded by young beautiful women, even in old age. Sh was right, of course. And they both have to pay for it. Qaddafi has his famous brigade of female body guards, a Libyan paramilitary force that is composed of comely women, comely by Libyan standards, who are supposed to be fiercely loyal. At least they were loyal when he was still young. Frankly they look much more serious, and more clad, than the playgirls. Besides, they never smile on camera.

One other thing separates Qaddafi from other Arab leaders: he has never promoted himself above the rank of Colonel. But then, when you rule the whole place, what is another title….
Cheers
