It is obvious what happened: the twice misguided man (he had already repented once) had the explosives in a constricted place that made his own internal organs absorb the force of the explosion. HRH was saved, literally by an acronym for the American Nihilist Underground Society (a k a rectum intestinum).
The proctologist(s) who loaded the explosives did not account for that factor.
But did the Prince not get any shrapnel, or at least any unwelcome splatter ‘matter’?
